Both men have only primary schooling, but this has not stopped them wanting to learn new skills. They were given training three months ago through the Department of Social Development in making jewellery, using porcupine quills and beads threaded onto large safety pins. So far they have mostly made bracelets, which are most attractive and well made, and they also have neck chokers and earrings available. They receive supplies through the government, and have regular support from their trainer, Vusi.
The men have a workshop at the old rent office in Thembalesizwe, and they can be contacted on 083 940 9734. They would love to find a shop to display their items, and are hopeful that their work will be of interest to tourists.
