Computer literacy graduates

Another group of five young adults has successfully completed the Basic Computer Literacy course, held under the auspices of ABET at Luxolo Intermediate school.

These classes aim to teach adults basic computer literacy, in order for them to gain a working knowledge of information technology. The aim is also to enable the learners to be competent to handle information technology in a business environment, and to make them more employable.

Although the course is aimed at ABET students, some school children have also completed the course, from grade nine and grade seven.

The computer room is a wonderful resource for the school, and once they have mastered basic skills, the school children are able to research assignments on the internet and prepare professional-looking reports and projects.

Since the inception of the course, 42 adults have been trained in computer literacy, and many of these have now been able to secure employment as a direct result of these skills.

Earlier this week five successful students were awarded certificates, issued by the Department of Education. Henry Mintoor, the ABET computer educator, and Luxolo principal Jan Mathiale congratulated the learners, and wished them well for the future.

Anyone interested in attending a course should contact Charlene at Luxolo on 049 846 0482
