Aberdeen Street Maps Published On Website

It's taken a while but the eventual result was worth the wait. It took many points, lines, curves, colours and hours to complete the high resolution (printable) street maps of Aberdeen and it is hoped that they will prove to be an invaluable reference source not only for the local community but also for our worldwide web visitors too. To download and/or view the maps, please see the "MAPS" page of the website or click here.

Thank you to the "anonymous" visitor who pointed out that the original maps of the town were drawn up by a Port Elizabeth company called Urban Dynamics - I assume these are the ones that appear on the boards adjacent to the NG Church and in front of the Tuin Kafee. Thank you, I was not aware of the name of the producers of these. My vector graphic map drawings were based on photos I took of these boards but the artwork in the reproduced documents is my own - hence the annotations to this effect on my drawings. I am not in possession of any original artwork as far as the Aberdeen street maps go and what you now see is what I've produced from scratch.

Sunday 11 Jan 2009 : With regard to the maps and Urban Dynamics - this info is available to all in Aberdeen town as this company scoped the town in 1995 as part of the IDP and Spatial Development Framework SDF, and the latest SDF maps of 2005 are available to any member of the Aberdeen community as it forms part of the Camdeboo IDP. The maps on the boards which you photographed and from which you generated the website maps were supplied by the Traffic Department of Graaff-Reinet (Mr Rhoode). D. Graham ** Seems I need to then thank and acknowledge Mr Rhoode in this regard. Apologies for the original miscommunication above - Webmaster
