Aalwynhof abloom!

The gardens of Aalwynhof Old Age Home in Aberdeen are a real feast for the senses, with colour and scent reflecting the glory of the recent prolific rains.

The gardens are maintained by Zan Fitzhenry, with practical help from gardeners Jannie and Toy. Fitzhenry  has been actively involved with Aalwynhof for about twenty years, and is to be seen pottering in the garden most days. She is full of praise for the dedication and hard work of her assistants – Jannie has been working at Aalwynhof even longer than she has!

The more active residents love to stroll around the garden, and it is a veritable oasis in this dry and dusty town. The modest Fitzhenry makes little of her efforts, but they are much appreciated by staff and residents alike.

Residents Jack Hilhorst, Pru Vorster and Joe Coetzee enjoy a walk in the lush gardens of Aalwynhof, with gardening assistants Jannie and Toy
